Bakers and Larners of Holt
An exceptional department store!
Our homes are full of great stories. About ourselves. What we love and what we like to do. We surround ourselves with what we like. What is important to us and what makes it easier to live the life we want. So when we come home, we feel at home. The home of BoConcept is Denmark, where they have been designing and manufacturing design furniture for more than 60 years.
Gallery Forty One
In an age where most furniture doesnt last five years let alone five hundred, Kate Thurlows Gallery Forty One allows you to encounter early antique furniture from around Europe that really has stood the test of time. The craftsman made chairs, chests and tables jostle for your attention alongside ornate French giltwood mirrors and curiosities such as Indian fertility amulets made from seedpods. Kate Thurlow has been selling the early and unusual since the 1970s. After forty years of being shop based, Kate moved in the new year to a spacious studio just south of Chelsea Bridge in Battersea. This will enable the business to increase its online presence whilst retaining a showroom for customers who still seek the physical and visual experience of the real thing. Set over one floor, the dove grey walls are covered with sparkling mercury plate mirrors, a variety of antique textiles and Indian miniature paintings while the space is filled with English and Continental domestic furniture, charming painted cupboards and deep French armchairs, some upholstered in colourful antique Kilim. If you are tired of the disposable furniture revolution and looking for a longer term relationship, Gallery Forty One has pieces to last a lifetime (or two). Services: if you are looking for a specific piece, they can help, as they source key pieces for both interior designers and private collectors; they offer an extensive buying service for their clients; they can view and report on a piece that is coming up at auction and bid on your behalf; they can also advise on and organise selling pieces through auction; they can arrange for restoration of your antique furniture, textiles and paintings; they can also provide an upholstering service including advice on fabrics.

Sam Morris Cow Art
Sam Morris specializes in realistic paintings of champion pedigree cattle for farmers, auctioneers, breeders and collectors. Often these pieces of art are commissioned as family legacies, sharing the story of agriculture success and family history theres a story to every cow! She also designs commercial stylized illustrations that reach a broader audience, some of which are licensed and distributed throughout the UK. There are a number of creative stages involved in the production of each of her animal portraits: working collaboratively with professional livestock photographers as an essential first stage or taking her own reference photos; the paintings are built with up to 50 layers of acrylic and glazing liquid to create the shape and depth; she uses subtle blending effects and exaggerating shadows to make the flat surface of the canvas appear to contain 3-dimensional elements within the finished piece. She knows a painting has been successful when a viewer steps in to inspect the detail and comprehend the 3-D illusion. Her cows have appeared in Farmers Weekly, Art Business Today and The Jersey Annual, and together they have won trade stand awards; most recently she enjoyed being a finalist in Gloucestershire Women in Business Awards 2015.
