Bowes Threads

Was born in January 2013 and secured a concession in Topshop within just a few months of starting the business, featuring a collection of garments ranging from maxi & midi dresses, reworked vintage denim shorts and their very own one of a kind 'Hull Loves' printed T-Shirts. The Bowes Threads 'Hull Loves' collection celebrates Hull's extraordinary heritage and includes a 'Pattie Butty' and a 'Chip Spice' printed T-Shirt. All these traditions are what make Hull the place it is. When you're Hull born and bred, you would never expect your chips to be served without Chip Spice and you would never find a Fish n Chip shop that didn't serve Pattie Butty's. But the funny thing is when you leave the City you realise how unique Hull is. We absolutely love this about Hull! This is the reason why we have dedicated a selection of our collection to the wonderful wacky traits of Hull. The concession in Topshop Hull came to an end in January 2014, having been a brilliant success. Now they have expanded the range with various new designs printed on not only t-shirts but baseball tops, sweatshirts and even baby t-shirts.

Dazzle and Jolt

Makes colourful, playful apparel for those not afraid to stand out. Designs feature all over prints with a graphic twist and a kaleidoscope of exotic animals, tropical fruits, geometrics and cosmic wonders. As a supporter of British manufacturing, their clothes are all made or printed here in the UK. Founded in 2013 by two friends with a love of rainbows, flamingos and glitter, Dazzle & Jolt aims to wash away the monochrome palette with a rush of colour and bold, bright prints. They are inspired by uniqueness, personal style and anyone and anything that stands out from the crowd. All the prints are created by their designer, Jess Holt, who has a background in graphic design and a serious obsession with colour. In 2014 Dazzle & Jolt was chosen by ASOS Marketplace as one of the 10 graduate designers to exhibit at the Clothes Show Live.

Don't Feed the Bears

T-shirt label based in Sheffield, UK. Meet designer Lucy and screen printer Tommy, who have been designing and screen printing T-shirts since 2010. All their T-shirts start life as a pencil sketch in one of Lucy's overflowing and much loved books. Tom's role is much more messy; after Lucy's done her magic, Tom puts the T-shirts through the inky fun-ness that is screen printing. They do all this by hand in their Sheffield studio.

Elevate with Wings

Online spiritual clothing store. Their designs are inspired by ancient spiritual symbols, Yoga, philosophy and positive energy. At Elevate WW good vibes are incorporated into their products to keep you feeling good. They feel the Heart Chakra symbolizes this best. As Kundalini energy activates, it rises up the spine activating the chakras (energy centers). A serpent is used to symbolise Kundalini energy as the energy moves similar to how a snake crawls (left to right). It is said that when the serpent reaches the Heart chakra it grows wings and rises up to the higher states of consciousness (and other chakras), thus Elevating With Wings. They believe that an activated heart chakra will bring you wisdom (understanding) and elevation. A mind that thinks and reasons before reacting is able to keep situations positive, rising above negativity.

Emperor Apparel

by Zane Marshall - he has always been a fashion fanatic and obsessed with the latest streetwear trends and movements, and found it hard to find clothes that he actually likes enough to spend his money on and garments that actually fit him properly. A lot of the brands he loved and followed would release extremely limited collections, which was frustrating because they were either not available in Australia at all or completely sold out before I could get his hands on them. He headed to Europe in July 2013 on a mid-year holiday to escape the cold, rainy weather of Melbourne for a mix of sunshine, relaxation and shopping. He hit the stores and came to the realisation that maybe that was the perfect time to follow his passion and start his own label. He arrived back home to Melbourne and got slapped in the face with the cold wind as he walked out of the terminal at Tullamarine airport. Typical Melbourne although this time coming home from a great holiday didn’t have the same dull feeling. He felt excited and motivated. From the moment he got home he was working his day job and after work he would spend another 6-8 hours per night working on and refining designs for T-shirts and caps. He was cutting and sewing his own templates and would change and alter the templates until they were exactly what he wanted and ready to be manufactured. He is a complete perfectionist, so this process was a painful and lengthy one. He produced the first limited Emperor Apparel collection and released it in February 2014, purely online. By April, the whole collection had sold out and he had pre-order requests from customers who had missed out on their sizes. He re-produced the first range and it sold out again in June. He was incredibly overwhelmed by the positive response and the way people were embracing his products. He takes great pride in his designs and he places extreme significance on the cut, fit and quality of the products.
