Abraxas Cookshop

The original Abraxas Cookshop opened in July 1996 at the beautifully restored and renovated Heart of The Shires Shopping Village. Built in 1867 and in its former days a model working Victorian farm, the shopping village is now home to twenty two retail outlets. Abraxas Cookshop is situated on the top floor of a 3000 sq ft dutch barn, stocking every item imaginable from a pastry brush to state-of-the art coffee machines, cookware, bakeware, knives, electricals, gadgets, utensils and kitchen work stations. In March 2004, Abraxas opened another branch in Regent Street, Rugby situated twelve miles from the primary store at The Heart of The Shires Shopping Village. The renovation was carried out in keeping with the nineteenth century building containing beautiful high ceilings, covings and unusual features. Downstairs in the restored basement, customers can view cookware ranges and accessories together with an electrical section displaying working coffee machines. In November 2004 Abraxas China & Glass opened at 15 Regent Street, Rugby stocking a comprehensive range of cutlery, glassware, dinnerware, table-top accessories and christening presents. Suppliers include LSA, Maxwell & Williams and Emma Bridgewater. The biggest renovation challenge yet, the Banbury shop was discovered in June 2004 in a very run-down condition. Built in 1867, this unique building, listed and in a conservation area, necessitated a complete restoration. Opened in June 2005, Abraxas Banbury has enjoyed positive customer feed-back. Local people were pleased to see this once dilapidated building transformed into a thriving retail business. The usual extensive and comprehensive range of cookware including knives, bakeware, storage, gadgets, utensils, textiles and work stations are displayed on the first floor. Downstairs in the vaulted basement, they have the China & Glass section, including Emma Bridgewater pottery, dinnerware, glassware and table-top accessories together with a working coffee machine area where customers may `test-drive' the equipment and sample the result! They were thrilled when the opportunity arose to take on these lovely premises on a prime shopping street in Northampton, filled with other independent retailers, cafes and bars. Opened in November 2006, Abraxas Northampton benefits from large ground and first floor areas, capturing the rural Abraxas feel into the urban town environment.

Their mission is pure and simple. They aim to bring high quality coffee and tea solutions and household accessories to everyone, in line with your values. They innovate to create great designs at affordable prices based on their guiding principle that form follows functionality, while keeping an eye on sustainability, environmental responsibility, and respect for the wellbeing of their staff, their communities, and our planet. 'Good design doesn’t have to be expensive', says Peter Bodum. The BODUM® story begins in Copenhagen, Denmark, where Peter Bodum founded the company in 1944, and is still being written today by his son, Jørgen Bodum, the current CEO, who co-owns the company with his sister Pia Bodum, ensuring that the BODUM® Group remains a 100% family-owned business. In 1992 BODUM® introduced its collection of electrical household goods, e-BODUM®. Simple yet effective, the IBIS water kettle was the first in the collection, which now includes juicers, coffee grinders, mixers, and blenders. Today, the BODUM® range has expanded further to include other kitchen and household products, including cookware and cutlery, storage items, textiles, and other home and office products. BODUM® Portuguesa has set a short-term environmental objective of reducing CO2 emissions. To achieve this goal, they’ve turned to the most innovative green technologies available – photovoltaic panels and energy storage batteries - with the aim of being entirely self-sufficient in the near future. Production sustainability, environmental responsibility, and concern for the wellbeing, safety and working conditions of their workers are all key to BODUM® Portuguesa’s objectives. In line with their motto – make taste, not waste – they’re looking at everything from production to packaging to ensure that they don’t create unnecessary waste. After all, design isn’t merely a product statement.

Gift Experience (The)

It all started in October 2003 when entrepreneurs Jenny and Trevor Pervin decided people just like you should be able to look for unique and personal gifts for friends, family and colleagues at any time and any place. So The Gift Experience was created, a family-run business with the aim of bringing you the best gift ideas, personalising them and posting them direct to your door. Fast forward to the present and The Gift Experience has grown into a thriving online business with an ever-growing range of gifts that you make unique. They might have grown, but that doesn’t mean they’ve lost their personal touch. The Gift Experience is still a family-run business where the vast majority of gifts are engraved and printed in-house. Every member of their team is dedicated to giving you a great experience from the moment you arrive on their website to the time you hand your personalised gift over to that lucky recipient!. But they can’t go without mentioning the most important member of their team, you! Without their fantastic customers, they simply wouldn’t be able to come up with new and unique gift ideas that they design right there, just as you want them. Your feedback is always valued and they take every single opinion on board to continuously improve your gift experience. If you’ve got any ideas or suggestions for them, they’d love to hear from you. Each gift is made unique by you, so they understand that quality customer service is especially important to ensure your gift is produced just as you want it. As so many of their products are personalised in-house, they can quickly and easily solve any issues you might have with an order. They won Business of the Year and Best Online Business at the Oswestry & Border Chronicle Business Awards in 2013, and they were a finalist at the Shropshire Star Excellence in Business Awards for Small Business of the Year in 2014 and 2015.
